Old: YSL Teint Touche Eclat Foundation

-Price: $64 CAD
-SPF 18
-19 Shades available (BD (golden), BR (rose/pink), B (Neutral)
-Finish: Dewy
-Coverage: Medium build-able (harder to build)
-Texture: Thicker cream, a bit heavier and less pigmented
-Last wear: 3-4 hours
-Recommended for: Dry, Dry combination and Normal skin

The shade I used in the old one was BD 50, however in the new one I was BD 40 (In MAC I use NC30)

Conclusion: Great foundation if you want to go for a short event that lasts up to 3-4 hours (no touch up). It is, however, easily restored if you blot after the 3-4 hour mark which extends the wear to 4-5 hours. Not recommended for anyone who's too busy and bothered to blot. Highly recommend for those who have combination dry, dry, and normal skin as it does not seem to cling to my dry patches. The new formula is better than the old one in the sense that it has a thinner texture that makes it much easier to build!

Comment if you have any questions about the foundation, I would be glad to answer them!

Love,

Jay

Scones & Jam

12:06 Unknown 0 Comments

If you live in Toronto, you have got to give Kitten and the Bear a visit. It's a beautifully decorated café/store that sells tea, coffee, freshly baked buttermilk scones and handmade jams, jellies, and marmalade. What's more to love?! You can either order these to go, or experience their jam tasting service in store. One thing to keep in mind is that it is a very tiny store, and there are only two tables...so be prepared to wait! Or go at an awkward time, like a Wednesday morning, like I did hahaha.

These scones are hands down my favourite scones I've ever had. And not to mention, their jam is delicious as well. They provide a different set of featured jams depending on the season. This season's featured jams were: Strawberries and Chocolate; Banana, Bourbon, and Vanilla bean; Pear and House Mulled Wine; Sweet Orange and Honeyed Whiskey. They were all so good, I couldn't choose which one was my favourite!

The tea that I chose was called Heavenly Cream, and it paired perfectly with the scones and jam.

If you do get the chance to check this place out, let me know how you liked it in the comments!

Love,
Lena

Monthly Picks - January 2016

Jay's January Picks

Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream No.23
Although I have an oily t-zone, the rest of my face tends to lean towards dry in the winter. Especially when the wind gets cold, instead of something that keeps me matte all day, I look for something more moisturizing. The Missha BB cream in shade no.23 keeps me pretty matte throughout the day (as long as I set it with powered, and Urban Decay All Nighter Spray) and matches my skin tone okay. Like most asian BB creams it starts off grey, but oxidizes to around NC25 (I'm NC30). The packaging is also really nice as it's a pump, making it sanitary and easy to use.
Price: Around $15

Jojoba Oil Serum
As I mentioned above, retaining moisture in January has been a must! At night, I find instead of using my usual night creams, oils are much better. Jojoba Oil is amazing for moisturizing, full of anti-oxidants high in vitamin E, softens your skin, and does not clog your pores. At night, I apply a couple of drops and in the morning my skin's radiant and smooth!
Additionally, in conjunction with my derma-roller, I find it has also helped lighten some of my acne scars.
Price: $13-15

Bite Beauty #001 Creme Deluxe Lipstick
I have been using this lipstick non-stop this past month. I'm a shades-of-red kinda girl when it comes to lipstick, and since winter is the season for dark tones, this deep red lipstick is my current go-to lip product. I find this colour works really well on all skin tones! Although it looks quite dark, and can seem intimidating to some, if you take a look at the swatch photo, the red is actually brighter once applied :) I used to veer away from dark lipsticks because it was out of my comfort zone, but after trying it a few times, it grew on me and now I love the bold look.
Sephora: Price $28

Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream
Winter really leaves my skin dry, and that includes my cuticles. We tend to forget about this portion of our skin, and apply moisturizer only to our hands... but our cuticles need just as much nourishment! My cuticles peel pretty often, but this cuticle cream really helps treat and heal them. It's an absolute must-have product for me. Plus, it leaves your nails smelling SO good!
Price: $8.00
