How to Style Neck Scarves

22:18 Unknown 1 Comments

It's funny to think that just a little while ago, silk square neck scarves only reminded me of two things: old fashioned women or flight attendants. However, silk scarves made a grand re-entrance into the fashion scene, and now I'm in love with how they look! My mum was delightfully surprised when I asked if she happened to own any, and she gave me this beautiful Celine silk scarf. Apparently it was one of her favourites and she was so happy that I wanted to wear it!

I styled this white and beige/brown scarf with a blue chambray top and pleather skirt. I wanted the scarf to stand out, so I avoided having any other whites in the rest of my outfit. I just love how these  scarves add a chic, Parisian accent to any outfit!

Because the rest of my outfit is quite dark coloured, my scarf really pops out and brightens up my face. I'm so excited to style this scarf with other outfits!

Unlike the previous scarf, this one is long and thin. I saw it at Zara and just had to get my hands on them! It's thin and lightweight so it's good for those warmer days.

Here, I went for a simple, yet stylish, monochromatic look. I styled the black scarf with a white sleeveless top, black culottes and black chunky sandals. The white top works nicely as a background for the scarf to stand out against.

I'm currently obsessed with these two scarves and I'm looking to add more to my closet! Comment below if you have any suggestions on where to get them :) Hope you liked my two outfit ideas!

Love,
Lena <3

Lip Monthly Unboxing - June 2016

18:55 Unknown 0 Comments

Hello lovelies :)
So happy to receive another month of lip goodies from Lip Monthly.
Compared to the previous month, I actually prefer this bag more!

Just a quick recap on Lip Monthly:
Lip Monthly is a monthly subscription program (found: here) that costs $12.95/bag and ships internationally. Each month you will receive 4-5 full size items that are valued at $35-55.
And as usual: keep reading, because we both have discount codes for your first purchase!

1. Peony Cosmetics Highlighter ($22)

This pinky, golden highlight is great with pink undertones or light to medium skin. It can be used on the cheekbones, and also on the eyes as eyeshadow/highlight! I find the twist packaging super easy to use, and the size is perfect for on-the-go. It works great under foundation or on top to give your skin a natural healthy glow for the summer :)

2. Jelly Pong Pong Lip Butter ($18.95)

Super creamy in consistency, this colour is very similar to the highlighter! The shade is a very light nude baby pink with a hint of peach. I love the packaging design, although the hard cardboard case makes it easy to dent and scratch. I found it very moisturizing but it's probably a lipstick you will want to reapply after a couple of hours.

3. Be a Bombshell Lip/Cheek Stick ($16) - Sweetness

Watching past Ipsy unboxings, I'm very excited to try the Be a Bombshell multitasking lip and cheek stain! The shade was a medium coral, with some small gold flecks that were not very noticeable once applied. The shade 'Sweetness' was very opaque and very easy to blend on your cheeks, and not drying on my lips.

4. Chrislie Lip Crayon ($13)

This neutral berry brick red shade is flattering on all skin tones, and has a slight vampy look once applied. I'll definitely get more use out of this shade come fall, especially because the texture is also as moisturizing as a lip balm! This is the shade I tried on in the video and by the end of filming, my lips felt great. The only con was that it does not stain, and with reds you have to be careful with the colour traveling outside your lip-line. Since the lip crayon is more of a "lip balm" texture, I worry that it may smudge.
**Edit: As I used this product more, I noticed that after a while, the product actually "sets" a bit and doesn't become so balmy. It doesn't dry my lips but its not so slippery as it used to be!

MONTHLY PICKS - JUNE 2016

Jay's June Favourites

Urban Decay All Nighter and Chill Setting Spray

Urban Decay's All nighter Spray and Chill Spray are the best makeup setting sprays I have ever tried! Using either will make your makeup last all day, especially if you have oily/combination skin. It has become an irreplaceable product to use everyday, more so in the summer! The All Nighter claims: "...helps makeup last up to 16 hours, no melting, cracking or fading." The Chill claims: " ...instant cooling sensation and actually chills the surface of your makeup...with Thermal Control Technology." However, I don't see a huge difference between the two of them, and use them interchangeably depending on the day.

Price $38 CAD

Sally Hansen Miracle Cure

Due to having thin, peeling nails, my nail polish never lasts! Sally Hansen's Miracle Cure claims to strengthen nails in just 3 days, and I could not agree more. This base/treatment strengthen's my nails, and hardens them so they do not break or peel. I reapply every other day and also use it underneath my nail polish as a base. As a base it helps my nails become stronger and extends the wear time of my polish. It has definitely made a big impact on my nails, I can finally grow them out and has made them healthier :)

Price: $6-9 CAD
